A day,
not a rental.

Isabelle. A 1964 Rolls-Royce Phantom V, coachwork by James Young, chauffeur-driven for one member at a time.

The front compartment: magnolia hide and the steering wheel

Magnolia hide, West of England cloth, and a division you can close on the world.

I · The motor car

An original, in every sense.

Chassis 5VB27, coachbuilt by James Young to design PV22. Ordered in January 1963 and delivered in March 1964 as a seven-seat formal limousine. James Young bodied roughly 197 Phantom Vs in all, and Isabelle is one of them: Midnight Blue outside; beige Connolly hide in the front compartment; West of England cloth, a burr-walnut division, picnic tables, occasional seats and a drinks cabinet behind.

She is kept by sympathetic preservation rather than modernisation. Period appearance retained, every modification reversible, original parts kept even where something newer is temporarily fitted. The full maintenance ledger is open to members on request.

Provenance, as far as we can prove it

  1. March 1964

Delivered, bodied by James Young to its PV22 formal limousine design and finished in Midnight Blue.

  2. The Continental years

Reported to have carried Belgian registration for a period before returning to Britain. Dates and registered owner are still to be documented.

  3. The rear bar

Two period decanters came with the car, their contents apparently undisturbed for more than a decade. A former Continental owner is said to have been connected with a château producing Calvados. We have not proved it, and we will not pretend otherwise until we have.

  4. June 2026

Bought into the collection and named Isabelle. A grand old lady with stories to tell.

  5. Today

Preserved rather than modernised, driven regularly, and researched continually. Where the record is reported rather than proven, we say so.

II · The day

Isabelle leaves storage once a day at most.

The arrangement

Every date is held for one member only. We do not run two engagements in a day, and we do not run a fleet.

Your chauffeur

Haris has driven Isabelle since she came into the collection. He knows which gates to use at Ascot and which lane at Henley, in morning dress or lounge suit as the occasion asks.

Your file

Champagne house, what you carry, the roads you like and the ones you would rather avoid. We keep it to serve you and for no other purpose.

III · The 2027 season

Twelve days worth leaving the house for.

Reserve the car for the day and add hospitality if you would like us to arrange it. Badges, tables and enclosure access are bought in your name. Dates are indicative until the organisers confirm.

V · Membership

The register opens twice a year.

Tell us who you are, what you drink and where you like to be driven. We read every application ourselves and reply personally; if the register is full we will tell you where you sit on the list rather than leave you waiting.

  • A small register, so that every date is held for one member only
  • First call on the season, and dates outside it
  • Your preferences kept on file and never asked twice
  • The maintenance ledger, open on request
